Unfinished Business
So I think it's pretty obvious by now that the blog is defunct. It isn't that my interest in fashion has diminished, in fact I think over the couple of months it's matured whereas before when I actually updated I was still trying to define my sense of style and the blog acted as an outlet for that process. I still love fashion blogs, in fact they're my main source of inspiration these days as I find myself buying magazines less and less due to lack of funds. However there are now what seem to be hundreds and hundreds of blogs out there floating in the interweb...of those hundreds I find myself visiting only a few of them each day. This isn't to say that the rest are bad hence me overlooking them...I just have less and less time as I move towards "adulthood" (whatever that may be for each one individually).
But having a fashion blog means being part of this large community. Even when you say you blog for yourself it means taking (say inspiration) but also means giving back to the community (commenting on other's blogs, answering questions, e-mails) and actively participating in it. To be quite frank however I find myself with nothing to give, not the time or energy because I barely have any for myself (2008 was a bad year for me but I'll spare you the sob story). I'm not really sure where I'm going with this. This post is already longer than I anticipated. I guess I just came back to properly say goodbye to this blog. Before I do though, I have some unfinished business. Even when I was no longer posting the kind people at Marshalls gave me a gift card to go shop at their Shoe Megashop. Anyways, I'm not saying this simply because I got free shoes from them since this will probably be the last time I'll be working with them and are therefore not obligated to anything but...yea go check the megashop out!
I got these Michael for Michael Kors shoes there (about a gazillion months ago)

They vaguely remind me of the Emma Cook for Topshop boots but with a more tame heel. They're still pretty "badass" or at least that's what the straight boy in my Lit theory class that sits next to me says.
P.S- I'll probably be on tumblr next, it won't be a fashion blog or even a proper blog at all, just a place where I'll post random stuff according to my mood I guess--quotes, music, pictures. Yea, that sort of jazz. I'll post the link when it actually goes up in case any one wants to follow my ramblings and tidbits even though I'm not even sure anyone still checks this blog for that matter.

I'm wonderin if you're wonderin...
what I've been up to
Besides dressing in a boring white t-shirt/ cut off shorts combo I've mainly been trying to enjoy what's left of my summer. A summer which thus far has included sweaty concerts, coconut flavored icicles, eating from every cheap place in St. Marks, late nights playing the wii, catching midnight movies, and sleeping in late. In my persuit of a happy summer I've neglected the blog a ridiculous amount of time. Here's a post though. I'm wearing two of my favorite new purchases

*My legs aren't darker than the rest of me in real life...I swear.

this H&M ice skating skirt and these ice skating boots...it's a bit predictable of me to wear them together but come fall I'll be wearing these boots with everything not just ice skating skirts.

Ideally I'd want the Marc Jacob ones favored by many bloggers but even on sale those are still out of my price range. I also contemplated these Nine West ones but they're $149 (still too steep for me) and they wouldn't even ship until September. Fortunate for me I decided to stop by DSW after an eye appointment earlier this month. They were having a sale on winter boots. Now, I'm not the type to usually buy seasonal items in advance...say bathing suits in winter or winter boots in summer, just because they're on sale (although it's probably wise to do so) so I was going to leave these behind. My mom talked me into buying them though and I'm really glad she did. Because compared to the Nine West ones, these Steve Madden ones were only $90 and I also kind of like them more than the NW ones. The lesson kids: always listen to your mother.

Alive and on Modepass
Just a post to let you guys know I'm not dead or anything...just super busy and sleep deprived :groan: School is almost over (tommorow to be exact but I still have a paper due Saturday) so I'll be back soon. If you're having Jello on Springs Withdrawal though stop by my modepass page. I don't have too many pictures yet but I do have a couple of pictures there that didn't make it to the blog. Hope all is well with you guys. I look forward to reading and commenting on your blogs when I finally have some free time.

Friday, I'm in Love (Late Edition)
It's a no-no for most but my current obsession: chinos, mom trousers, khakis, call them what you will

and even her, although a lot of people gave her flack over this outfit

On me? Hmm I just don't know...
that's a little boy's levi's jeans shirt by the way and my bag...it's my favorite new handbag, except it smells like cigarette smoke. Seriously, the previous owner must have smoked and exhaled into the bag because there really is no other explanation why it smells so bad.

you can blame this number on the girls from moderniteter though
I'm afraid I look like a tourist, especially in the first picture, or an amusement park worker... or maybe a tourist at an amusement park =O!

Porque no Tuviste el Valor de Ver Quien Soy...
My Homer paper is done done done!! This means I can finally post.
July is fast approaching and for me that means (1)the end of summer classes and (2) free summer concerts. I'm excited about both but especially the latter since I'll be seeing two groovy ladies live. And yes, I just said groovy. One of which I'm sure most of you are familiar with (Santogold at Central Park, wooo, July 20th mark your calendars) and one which you might not be too acquainted with. This girl of the month post is dedicated to that gal.
But before I reveal who that lady is I want to talk a little bit of why I chose her. I think that a lot of people (when I say "a lot of people" I refer to the general population not any of my lovely readers) hold the misconception that latinas...well don't know how to dress. That we lack "class", dress trashy and tacky...basically that all of us dress like this:
I was again reminded of this misconception when Facehunter was shooting in Mexico. An anonymous commenter said, "I thought Mexicans just shopped at Walmart?" While it is true that Mexico or other Latin countries aren't exactly fashion capitals of the world I don't think it's right to generalize and say that all latinas/latinos dress badly. Not everyone in NYC or London is "fashionable" and these are places considered fashion meccas. Point is race nor where you come from should have anything to do with fashion. But to disprove this misconception once and for all here's the lovely Julieta Venegas:

I love that her eyebrows are sorta untamed...mostly because I definitely don't pay enough attention to my own (the perks of having long bangs!). I also want peacock feather earrings badly. And psh she plays the flippin accordion, how strange and cool is that?

Lime green tights with gold mary janes?! Who 'da thunk' they looked so good together?
ah lamé leggings...
Still shots from her video Oleada
and from "Me voy" (if you only check out one video make it this one)
embedding is disabled for all her videos but if you check out "Me Voy" and you dig her I recommend "Eres Para Mi"
It's four in the morning...I'll reply to comments later in the day.
